Express Entry is a system to organize and process applications for people who wish to immigrate to Canada and acquire Canadian permanent residence. Express Entry is used to process the majority of Canadian immigration applications for skilled and qualified workers who want to come to Canada.
Express Entry is an application management system for three major Canadian economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
If you are eligible to apply for any of these programs, you can send an Expression of Interest (EOI), often called a profile, to the Express Entry system. After your profile is submitted, you automatically receive a score in the Global Classification System (CRS).
Approximately every two weeks, the Canadian government holds a sweepstakes in which they issue invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residency to the highest level profiles in the Express Express candidate group.
Upon receiving an ATI, applicants can submit a full application for permanent residence in Canada, which will be processed within four to six months.
If you want more information on your eligibility status before you apply, see a guide for Express Entry applicants eligibility below.
